This is actually a funny topic for me. I remember growing up and hearing the stories of how it was such a hardship for my parents to buy me shoes. I was told that the family had to have turkey necks and beans for dinner so that my parents could afford the Stride Rite shoes that the doctor said that I needed to aide in my growth and development.
Long story short I have flat feet and the regular children’s shoes were causing me to have pain when I walked. Between us it was probably because the no-name shoes were so poorly made. Yet I digress. Just to finish painting the picture we wore Toughskins. TOUGHSKINS! If you don’t know what Toughskins are you owe it to your self to google them. Here is a commercial for them. It was done in 1973. Ahh the good ole days!
Back to why we are here. Children’s shoes!! So as you can imagine when my little one started to walk he was going to have only the best! Stride Rite store here we come! So we headed off to the store and for the first pair of Stride Rite Shoes. Commercial Time:
So the issue isn’t really Stride Rite or no name ,but it kind of is. You see just so that you all know I have the child that is so rough on shoes that it is amazing that they last till the end of the week. My little one drags the top part of his shoes on the concrete to stop when he is riding his bike. So you can only imagine what the no name shoes looked like after day one. But here is the surprising part. We even bought him some Adidas children’s shoes because we loved the way that they look. All of them fell apart. The Stride Rites are the only children’s shoes that have stood the test of time. So much so that we are passing them on to our second son. When we took them out of the storage boxes to add them to the rotation. They looked as new as the day they were purchased. So in my humble opinion Stride Rites are worth every extra penny you spend.
